Automatic assessment
SINGLE DOCUMENTWhen you select Assess this manuscript, BRIHANTRA automatically sends the displayed research-topic keywords to public scholarly services and selected Wikipedia editions (English, Hindi, Telugu, Spanish and French). If few readable texts are found, Crossref, OpenAlex and Europe PMC may receive shorter subsets of these same keywords. Providers may log searches. Manuscript text stays in this browser unless you separately authorise phrase or passage searches. Coverage is limited—not every Wikipedia page or academic publication is checked.
Known published source — exact verification (optional)
For a positive-control manuscript, specify the PMCID of the actual published article. The app will attempt that article's open-access XML first, independently of keyword search rankings. It will not upload your manuscript or invent a match if the source is unavailable.
Selecting the article fills its identifier. You must still tick the consent box below to request that article, then run a new assessment.

The manuscript is divided into overlapping passages based on the selected word count. All accessible retrieved text is compared locally; only a small, visible sample of passages can be searched in external academic indexes.

METHODOLOGY & LIMITS
Know what the score means.
BRIHANTRA Originality v2.6.1 reviews a single uploaded manuscript against selected accessible academic source text. It is not an internet-wide plagiarism screening system or a plagiarism adjudicator. Supported public repository PDFs may be retrieved through a restricted, first-party open-access route; only user-approved passage samples are searched in the scholarly index.
Conservative close matching
Compares word overlap and three-word patterns to flag passages with minor wording changes. It cannot reliably identify conceptual copying or substantial paraphrasing.
Document-based score
Matched, eligible target words ÷ all eligible target words. Reference-list and quotation exclusions alter the denominator. It is not a Turnitin or iThenticate equivalent.
Privacy and supported files
Text is processed in your browser, without transmitting manuscripts to our server. Text-based PDFs need a PDF parsing library loaded online; scanned PDFs with no text layer require OCR and are not supported.
Questions researchers ask
Does it compare against Google or journal archives?
The app searches public OpenAlex, Crossref, and Europe PMC records after consent. It compares accessible abstracts and eligible Europe PMC open-access article-body text. It does not access the entire web, paywalled publisher full texts, or institutional plagiarism databases.
Can it detect AI-generated writing?
No. AI text detection is not included in this release, and such estimates can be unreliable.
Why might a PDF appear empty?
Some PDFs are scanned page images with no selectable text. Use an OCR tool to create a searchable PDF or convert its text into DOCX/TXT before uploading.
Are the results accepted by universities?
No institutional acceptance or equivalence to official similarity-check platforms is claimed. Use this for preliminary self-review; follow your institution’s policies for official submissions.
