Consecutive-word matching
Identifies matching word sequences in the manuscript and readable retrieved source texts. Longer phrases are prioritised and counted once.
Upload one manuscript, discover accessible scholarly sources, review verified matching passages, and create a source-linked report. Your document stays in the browser.
Research paper, thesis chapter or dissertation. Additional document uploads are not required.
Text-based PDF, DOCX or TXT · up to 12 MB · scanned PDFs require OCRUpload just one document. BRIHANTRA will search publicly indexed academic records and assess text that is legally and technically accessible.
Compare this sample with its original synthetic test fixtures locally. Nothing is sent to academic services. This is not a plagiarism report.
For a positive-control manuscript, specify the PMCID of the actual published article. The app will attempt that article's open-access XML first, independently of keyword search rankings. It will not upload your manuscript or invent a match if the source is unavailable.
Selecting the article fills its identifier. You must still tick the consent box below to request that article, then run a new assessment.
The manuscript is divided into overlapping passages based on the selected word count. All accessible retrieved text is compared locally; only a small, visible sample of passages can be searched in external academic indexes.
Upload a manuscript to preview word-length passages.
Matching instances are excluded from the similarity numerator and the eligible-word denominator. These phrases are never sent to search providers.

These sites can identify additional research, including Indian theses. Opening them is optional; their results are NOT automatically compared or included in the similarity percentage. Scopus and Web of Science may require subscriptions.
For Shodhganga, the link searches Google's index of that repository; it is not a Shodhganga API.
Similarity % = matching eligible manuscript words ÷ total eligible manuscript words × 100. Reference words are not added to the manuscript length.
Interpretation matters: A similarity percentage is not a plagiarism verdict. Legitimate citations, shared terminology and standard phrases may match. The score reflects only the retrieved readable sources, never the entire web or publisher databases.
Each source percentage means the portion of this manuscript whose exact wording matches that source. A passage may appear in multiple sources, so individual percentages cannot be added. Exclude or restore sources to recalculate the overall result.
Only report summaries are stored on this browser. Full manuscript text and files are never added to local history.
BRIHANTRA Originality v2.6.1 reviews a single uploaded manuscript against selected accessible academic source text. It is not an internet-wide plagiarism screening system or a plagiarism adjudicator. Supported public repository PDFs may be retrieved through a restricted, first-party open-access route; only user-approved passage samples are searched in the scholarly index.
Identifies matching word sequences in the manuscript and readable retrieved source texts. Longer phrases are prioritised and counted once.
Compares word overlap and three-word patterns to flag passages with minor wording changes. It cannot reliably identify conceptual copying or substantial paraphrasing.
Matched, eligible target words ÷ all eligible target words. Reference-list and quotation exclusions alter the denominator. It is not a Turnitin or iThenticate equivalent.
Text is processed in your browser, without transmitting manuscripts to our server. Text-based PDFs need a PDF parsing library loaded online; scanned PDFs with no text layer require OCR and are not supported.
The app searches public OpenAlex, Crossref, and Europe PMC records after consent. It compares accessible abstracts and eligible Europe PMC open-access article-body text. It does not access the entire web, paywalled publisher full texts, or institutional plagiarism databases.
No. AI text detection is not included in this release, and such estimates can be unreliable.
Some PDFs are scanned page images with no selectable text. Use an OCR tool to create a searchable PDF or convert its text into DOCX/TXT before uploading.
No institutional acceptance or equivalence to official similarity-check platforms is claimed. Use this for preliminary self-review; follow your institution’s policies for official submissions.
